How we work

Editorial Policy

How we research, score and update every TechBeachon article.

Our research process

For every product we cover, we compile manufacturer specifications, independent benchmark and lab data, pricing history and long-term owner feedback from verified buyers and communities. We then compare each product against its direct rivals at the same price — because “good” only means something relative to the alternatives.

How the TechBeachon score works

Scores are out of 10 and built from four weighted checks:

  • Performance (40%) — how well it does the job it is bought for.
  • Value (25%) — what you get for the money versus close competitors.
  • Build & design (20%) — materials, ergonomics, comfort and repairability.
  • Longevity (15%) — software support, warranty and how well it will age.

A score of 9 or above is exceptional; 8 is a strong recommendation; 7 is good with caveats; anything lower we generally don’t recommend.

Independence

Manufacturers never see articles before publication, cannot pay for coverage and cannot change a score. Affiliate commissions are the same regardless of which product you buy, so we have no reason to favour one over another.

Updates and corrections

Buying guides are reviewed regularly and updated when prices change significantly or better products launch. The “Updated” date on each article shows the last meaningful revision. If you spot an error, please let us know — we correct mistakes promptly and transparently.
